Collector and DAC chairman Gopalakrishna Dwivedi accorded final clearance to give a fillip to the sagging aquaculture sector in the district, reports The Hindu. 
According to The Hindu, a total of 142 applications were made for ponds less than two hectares area, of them 137 were sanctioned and others were rejected owing to objections from different departments. 
Thirty-eight applications were received for ponds measuring more than two hectares and eight were cleared. 
India Gives Nod to 145 Aquaculture Ponds
INDIA - The District Aquaculture Committee (DAC) has given permission for 145 aquaculture ponds out of 180 for which applications were made.
